Ann Melear Obituary

Ann Melear, 74, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 29, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive with Pastor Tom Malone of Gateway Church officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Ann was born September 14, 1949 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Henson and Martha Hewitt. The family moved with the military a lot and Ann graduated from high school at Dover AFB in Delaware. While their family was stationed in Germany in 1965, she met the love of her life, Bill Melear. The two married on September 20, 1969 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force, and the couple found themselves back in Germany. While there, Ann worked as a keypunch operator. They moved around quite a bit as well, living in Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky and back to Texas to stay in 1977. Ann did mostly clerical work, but stayed busy raising their two sons, Aaron and Ben.

In her spare time, she was involved in church activities. She was in charge of many gatherings and enjoyed entertaining guests. She had a sweet spirit and was very gifted in hospitality. She also liked doing crafts, including crocheting, painting and creating hand-crafted cards. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Melear; two sons, Aaron Melear and wife Rachel of Anderson, SC, and Benjamin Melear of Amarillo; and three grandchildren, Zoe, Megan and Kaitlynn.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Compassions Gate. 7311 Pettitt Street Amarillo, TX 79108.
