Cordel "Cody" Kennedy

Cordel “Cody” Kennedy, 75, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, October 22, 2019. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr. Cody was born July 27, 1944 in Kimball, Nebraska. She married Joseph Kennedy on January 10, 1985 in Amarillo. Cody worked for Owens Corning for 25 years before retiring in 2004. She then went on to work for Kohl’s for 15 years. Cody was a talented seamstress, making many dolls for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a quilter, and also enjoyed cooking and baking. It brought her joy to feed her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Harrison Shepard; and two sisters, Penny Ziegler and Linda Nutt. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Kennedy; three daughters, Susan Kinman of Portales, NM, Teresa Provence of Bryan, Christina McKay of Crowell; a son, James Shepard of Amarillo; two brothers, Jon Hammond of Kansas, and Theodore Hammond of Missouri; a sister, Dixie Wright of Missouri; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
