Melissa Merriott

Melissa Merriott, 33 died Thursday January 2, 2020 in Amarillo surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday January 11, 2020 at the Amarillo Masonic Lodge, located at 1512 West 10th in Amarillo.

Melissa was born September 7, 1986 in Amarillo to Kenneth and Donna Angel. Growing up, Melissa enjoyed playing with her neighborhood friends. Her sisters remember her as a spunky and silly girl, always having a fun time. Melissa would attend Caprock High School, and was a part of the ROTC program. She loved photography and was an avid collector of penguins and Amy Brown Art figurines. Melissa met her husband playing her favorite game, World of Warcraft and they married on October 29, 2017 in Amarillo. They enjoyed seven precious years together. She was a huge Halloween fan, and would plan in advance to make the holiday very special for her and her family. Above everything, Melissa loved spending time with her family, especially when they would have their annual Christmas dinner at the Big Texan.

Melissa was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandparents.

Survivors include her husband, Matthew Merriott of the home; three sisters, Dee Ann Finken, Jennifer McCoy and husband Frank, and Theresa Angel all of Amarillo; her step-father, Mike Martellaro of Amarillo; one aunt, Mary Dickerson and husband Bob of Amarillo; two uncles, Fred Lowrey, and Don Hill Jr. both of Amarillo; one brother-in-law, Johnathan Merriott of Amarillo; three nephews, Seth, Troy, and Frank Jr. of Amarillo; six cousins, Scott, Todd, and Stephanie of Amarillo, and Liz, Angela, and Michael of California.
