Melodi Woosley Obituary

Melodi J. (Dixon) Woosley, 60, of Amarillo, died Monday, October 14, 2019. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday at 4:00 pm at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr. with Pastor Rusty Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Melodi was born May 7, 1959 in Munich, Germany to Jim and Jane Dixon. She grew up in Friona, Texas and was a very bossy big sister to her three siblings. She graduated from Friona High School in 1976 and went on to earn a Bachelor Degree in Education from West Texas A&M University three years later. Although Melodi excelled at many things, including wedding planning and arranging flowers, her true calling was teaching. Melodi proudly taught for 29 years at Western Plateau, Will Rogers, and Mesa Verde Schools. After receiving her Master’s Degree from Texas Women’s University, she worked as a librarian at Ridgecrest and Olsen Park Elementary Schools. She encouraged countless minds and nurtured many hearts during her time as an educator. Melodi married the love of her life, Tommy Woosley on June 7, 1980 at Calvary Baptist Church in Canyon, Texas and was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo. She was greeted in heaven by her father, Jim Dixon; and a son, Ethan Woosley. She is survived by her husband Tommy; their two children, Mollijane and Tanner; two grandsons, Saelin and Kyson of Amarillo; her mother, Jane Dixon of Friona; siblings, Milon Dixon of Lubbock, Milli Watson of Frederick, OK, and Mendan Dixon of Weatherford; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws; and many cherished friends.
