Abel Luna, Jr

Abel was born on March 14, 1947 in Seguin to Abel Sr. and Toribia Luna. He was raised in Bloomington where he enlisted in the United States Army in 1966. He served until his honorable discharge in 1968. He moved to Dumas in 1979, where he married Alesa Cooper on August 11, 1985. In Dumas, Abel worked for Western Auto, J.J.'s Vending, Homeland and Walmart before moving to Amarillo in 2009. Abel was an avid softball fan and enjoyed coaching, umpiring and playing any form of the sport. He loved fishing and collecting and admiring antique cars and eagle collectables. He is survived by his wife, Alesa Luna of Amarillo; 4 daughters, Diane Ramirez and husband Ruban of Victoria, Suzette Luna of Victoria, Bethany Luna and Karissa McDonald, both of Lubbock; 4 sons, Tony Luna of Victoria, Johnny Chavez and wife Ramona of Victoria, Larry Luna of Victoria and Abel Luna, III of Roshannon; 4 brothers, Longino Luna of Houston, Fred Luna of Dumas, Chris Luna and Horacio Luna, both of Victoria; 3 sisters, Janie Rangel of Angelton, Fela Garcia and husband Lupe of Houston and Dora Ramos and husband Jose of Liberty; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and his beloved dog, Doc. Abel was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elizabeth Luna and his siblings, Lupe Olivarez, Inez Aguallo, Margie Ramos, Luis Luna and Louis Hernandez.
