Alta Janiece Hawthorne

Alta Janiece Hawthorne, 71, of Amarillo, died, December 19, 2017. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Friday at Church Alive, 1819 Canadian St. with Pastor Mark Rector officiating. Alta was born in Wheeler on October 25, 1946 to Ector and Emma Hall. She worked in the processing department for Tyson Foods for 34 years. She was known as an avid animal lover and throughout her life raised pygmy goats, miniature horses and donkeys, and llamas. She loved many kinds of plants and yellow roses. Alta deeply loved her family and found joy in spending time with them. She will be immensely missed by all. She is survived by two daughters, Vickie Ivie, and Nicole Sandoval and husband Mike all of Amarillo; a son, Steven Hawthorne of California; a sister, Sheila Hall of Henderson, Nev; her companion, Richard Earwood; four grandchildren, Kaci Simmons and husband Breland, Dewayne Musick, Elexus Sandoval and Micah Sandoval all of Amarillo; a nephew, Shawn Sloan and wife Barbie of Okla; and three great-grandchildren, Ady, Peyton, and Avrey. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lee Hall; a sister, Pamela Sloan; a nephew, Richard Sloan; a son-in-law, Bowie Ivie; and a grandson, Elijah Kain Rodriguez.
