Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Life Church, 8600 Canyon Expy, with Pastor Hunter Threlkeld officiating. Burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday at Cox- Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Alvin was born on August 29, 1948 in Wellington, Texas to Bunk and Zelda Farrar. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1967. On August 30, 1969, he married his wife, Vickie Caudle in Amarillo. Together, they raised two children, Misti and Chad, although many others called him “Dad”. Alvin worked for the City of Amarillo, Asarco, Levi Strauss, and the Jordan-Baten Unit in Pampa. He then began a 20 year career at Tolin Mechanical, retiring in 2020. In his spare time, Alvin enjoyed fishing and bicycling. He was a caring and selfless man who enjoyed doing things for people.
The family would love it if you would bring a fishing lure in honor of Alvin to the visitation or service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vickie Farrar; a brother, Winton Farrar; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Alex, and Camden.
Survivors include a daughter, Misti Lester (James) of Amarillo; a son, Chad Farrar (Ti) of Amarillo; two brothers, Donnie Farrar of Amarillo and Rex Farrar (Cindy) of Springtown, TX; a sister, Sabrina Malota (Harvey) of Amarillo; a God-daughter, Chantal Whetzel; seven grandchildren, Shelby Conley (Jason), Kyler Wheeler, Toby Farrar (Cirstin), Jordan Wheeler, Kaide Lester (Bree), Oakley Farrar, and Noah Wheeler (Brittney); and nine great-grandchildren.
