Alvin Taylor

July 12, 1942 — February 1, 2017

Alvin was born July 12, 1942 in Amarillo to Ray and Pauline Taylor. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1960. He married Graziella Glancy on March 31, 1984. He worked for ICX for several years. He went to work for Beaver Express in 1984. He retired as the general manager after 30 years with the company. Alvin was an avid fisherman. He loved to travel, especially to Lake Como, Italy. He also enjoyed gambling, but his favorite pass time was sitting out on his patio. Alvin was a Christian man, who loved his family very much. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Gracie Taylor; three daughters, Shauna Hayes and husband Bill of Childress, Claudia McClellan and husband Matt, and Kimberly Johnson and husband Bron all of Amarillo; one son, Scotty Taylor and wife Kay of Amarillo; four sisters, Margaret Clipperton and husband Gary of California, Pat Harlan and husband Kenneth of Boyd, TX, Dorcas Holzkamper and husband Martin of Bedford, and Iris Cline of Garland; two brothers, Robert Taylor of Boyd, TX, and Frank Taylor and wife Brenda of Aikens, SC; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Toby Taylor in 1996; his parents, and his beloved grandmother, Granny Pearl. The family suggests memorials be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
