Anna C. Dean

Anna C. Dean, 100, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Llano East Cemetery, with Pastor Jeff Ponder officiating.

Anna was born April 20, 1923 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado to James and Bessie Combs. She graduated from McLean High School. She married her husband Arthur M. “Digger” Dean on February 8, 1941 in McLean. Anna worked as an LVN at the North Plains Hospital in Borger. Her most important job was dedicating her life to caring for her family. Anna was very active in every church that she and her husband attended over the years. She was an excellent seamstress, and sewed over 1700 dresses which she made from pillowcases. These dresses were taken over to Africa by missionaries to be given to young girls there. Anna will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur M. Dean; a son, Charles Dean; a sister, Margaret Massey; and a brother, Monroe Combs.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Immel of Amarillo and Jemma Thomas of Houston; a son, Don Dean of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Jodi Williams and husband John, Brad Immel and wife Catherine, Serilyn Immel, Butch Thomas and wife Karie and Jennifer Vail and husband Tom; her close friend, Margaret Thompson; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
