Ardath White

Ardath White, 83, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with the Rev. Bob Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. White was born June 23, 1932, in Anderson County to Claude and Pauline Monk. She was raised in east Texas and was graduate of Lelia Lake High School. She also graduated from Amarillo College. She married Billy White on Nov. 6, 1952, in Lelia Lake. They also lived in Hedley and Clarendon before moving to Amarillo in 1966. Mrs. White worked in banking in Amarillo for more than 30 years. She loved her Lord and was a member of Hillside Christian Church. She had a great love for gardening, genealogy and reading but most of all, she loved being MomMom to her two grandchildren, Brooke and Tate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy, in 1995; a brother, Terry Monk, in 1954; and her parents. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Prescott and husband Terry of Amarillo; two sisters, Carolyn Bowman and husband Don of Littleton, Colo., and Brenda Hall and husband Ronnie of Amarillo; two brothers, Rayburn Monk and wife Marty of Irvine, Calif., and Bill Monk and wife Judy of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Tate and Brooke and husband T. Jay; and a great-granddaughter, Lizzy. The family suggests memorials be to ADVO Company, 5241 S. Washington St., Amarillo, TX 79110. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
