Ardith Jones

Ardith Jones, 88, of Amarillo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at The Church at Quail Creek, 801 Tascosa Rd., with Pastor Dale Moreland officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, and Tuesday morning from 8:00 – 11:00 AM. Arrangements are by Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Ardith was born September 25, 1935 in Amarillo, Texas to T.A. and Vida Yeager. She graduated from high school in Littlefield, Texas. Ardith worked for AISD and San Jacinto Christian Academy for many years. She was an active member of San Jacinto Baptist Church, later The Church at Quail Creek. Ardith had a servant’s heart and found many ways to serve within the church. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, as well as being involved in the Grief Share Ministry, the Hope Welcome Center, Martha’s Home, the Bus Ministry, Children’s Church and Bible Drill.

Ardith was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Guy Hirst; her second husband, Otis Jones; her son, Edward A. Hirst; and her brother, Dewey Yeager.

Survivors include her daughters, Joshlyn Coffman and husband Joe and Ami Acker and husband Scott all of Amarillo; her son, Edward T. Hirst and wife Jeanice of Amarillo; and four great-grandchildren, Ashtin, Jeremiah, Starlace and Little Ed.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Faith City Mission or to the Salvation Army.
