Arlo Roth, 83, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on November 4th, 2023, following a brief illness.
Arlo was born to Martha and Fred Roth, on June 22nd, 1940, in Selah, WA.
Arlo is survived by his loving wife Karen, his first born daughter Terrie Vanderwegen and Terrie’s two sons and two grandsons, his son Arlo D’s daughter, his youngest daughter Janel Roth-Griffith and her son and daughter. He is also survived by his step son Bob (and wife Debra) Richardson, step son Bill (and wife Erin) Richardson and their children, and his many Great Grandchildren.
He married Sheila Morrisette and started his family in Yakima, WA. Arlo was a proud Father to his three children, Terrie, Arlo D. and Janel. He took his family on many fun vacations and adventures, and lovingly supported them throughout various important life events.
In March 1990, he met the love of his life Karen, as he country danced his way into her heart! They met, danced, fell in love, and he married Karen Richardson, whom he spent the next 33 happy years with, until they were parted by his death. With Karen, came the Blessings of her sons Bill and Bob Richardson, and their families and children, whom he was blessed to be their Grandpa.
He worked hard to become a Plumber, Arlo was proud to be a member of the “Pipefitters and Steamfitters Union #598 & #290 throughout his career and life. He worked for Mantey Plumbing for several years, building homes throughout the Yakima Valley, WA. Arlo often brought his children Terrie, Arlo D., and Janel to his work sites to proudly show them the work he had completed. Arlo then worked really hard at becoming a Pipefitter, which was his career until his retirement in 2002.
He worked in various jobs throughout the United States as a Pipefitter, Foreman, and as a Mentor to many other Pipefitters. Some of his more notable jobs were on construction sites at Hanford, Johnston Atoll, and many large industrial buildings and homes. Arlo loved his 40+ year career, which he was excellent at, and took great pride in his work and of his lifetime accomplishments.
Arlo had an absolutely magnetic and dynamic personality, bringing light and energy into every room he entered, and everyone who met him, loved him. He was funny, outgoing, fun loving, loved to tease. He loved country music, was an excellent dancer. He loved Western movies. But most importantly, he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandpa. He will be missed by all those that knew him and loved him. He will be loved and cherished in our hearts forever.
