Arthur "Gene" Adee

Arthur “Gene” Adee, 84, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 7, 2024 at Church of Christ- Colonies, 4500 Wesley Rd. with Bret McCasland officiating.

Gene was born October 17, 1939 in Clayton, New Mexico to Benson and Maxine Adee. He graduated from Clayton High School and attended Eastern New Mexico University. He married his wife, Jane Legg on March 7, 1964. They celebrated 60 years of marriage last spring.

Gene started his career at Borden’s Milk, and went on to SPS, where he worked until retirement in 2012. He came out of retirement to work for Ellet & Gaynor, LLC for the next seven years. Gene had many hobbies in his spare time. He was a pilot and owned three planes throughout his life. He enjoyed rebuilding small engines, and even rebuilt a pickup and a tractor.

Gene was a dedicated Christian who put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was in the Word daily and was an active member of Southwest Church of Christ for many years, where he served as an elder. He and Jane have been active members of Church of Christ at the Colonies for the last decade. Over the years, Gene travelled the globe sharing the Gospel of Christ, including Australia, Russia, Ecuador, Washington state, and Wisconsin. Gene was a true family man; he loved spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bobby Adee and Donnie Adee.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Adee; his son, Steven Adee and wife Rene’ of Panhandle; his daughter, Carol Adams and husband John of Taos, NM; a sister, Barbara James of Boise city, OK; and four grandchildren, Zachary Adee, Seth Adams and wife Noel, Morgan Adams, and Sydney Adee; and many nieces and nephews.
