Atha Boehning Alward, 88, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Pastor Burton McIlroy of New Life Foursquare Church officiating.

Atha was born September 2, 1933 in Amarillo, Texas to W.G. and Elizabeth Boehning. She graduated from Vega High School. She married Harold Alward on February 18, 1956 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Atha dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was an active church member, and dedicated much of her time to the church. She led a Tuesday morning Bible study for many years. Atha was a prayer warrior and prayed for several hours each day. She was a member of New Life Foursquare Church. She collected birdhouses and salt and pepper shakers. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Atha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Alward; two daughters, Rebecca Alward and LaDonna Howard; three brothers, Stanley Boehning, Raymond Boehning, and Richard Boehning; a granddaughter, Dusty Alward; and her daughter-in-law, Donna Alward.

Survivors include her son, Teddy Alward of Amarillo; her sister, Elza Elam of Purcell, OK; seven grandchildren, December Barcroft (Tim), Beth Hart (Mark), Joseph Howard (Brandy), Brandon Alward (Debra), Summer Howard, Leif Ray (Michael), and Keri Alward (Carlos Contreras); and 11 great-grandchildren.
