Athalee Beckham

Athalee was born April 23, 1923 in Hall County, TX to Alfred and Ida Hutcherson. She attended school in the rural community of Salisbury through 8th grade and graduated from Memphis High in 1940. She went on to attend Texas Tech for two years, being the first of her family to attend college. She married James Coy Beckham on September 26, 1942 in Memphis. They lived in San Angelo during WWII then resided in Hall County until 1979 when they moved to Floydada. She was employed by Lighthouse Electric in Memphis and Floydada for 32 years. She moved to Amarillo in 2010. Coy preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Wayne and Rayford Hutcherson, and a great-grandson, Hudson Googe. Survivors include three daughters: Teresa Morgan of Amarillo; Donna Odom and husband, Jim, of Cypress, TX; Lori Caldwell and husband, Dean, of Amarillo; two sisters, Dorothy Patton of Irving, and Velma Montgomery of Memphis, 6 grandchildren: Joe Morgan of Arlington; Jill Critchfield and husband Bryan with children Julia, William and Jeremiah of Cypress; Jennifer Googe and husband David and children Henry, Maggie, Sarah, and Grace of Shreveport, LA; Clint Caldwell and wife, Haleigh of Canyon; Sydney Conway and husband Jackson of Amarillo; and Chad Caldwell of Amarillo.
