Audrey Stoerner

January 19, 1928 — May 19, 2015

Audrey "Granny" Stoerner was born in Shelby, Texas, to Caroline and Albert Schulz on January 19, 1928, and passed from this life on May 19, 2015. At an early age, her family moved to a farm in Littlefield, Texas, where she attended school. On April 2, 1947, Audrey married Hubert Stoerner and moved to a farm north of Plainview, Texas, where they were blessed with three sons. They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Providence, TX, where Audrey was a member of the Altar Guild and taught Vacation Bible School. She was an active member of the Providence community's Just Us Girls (JUG) Club. In 1965, they moved to Hereford, Texas, where they owned and operated a motel. While living in Hereford, she was an active member of the Hereford Garden Club. In 1979, they moved to Amarillo, Texas, where she managed a Hallmark store. They were members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church for many years where she assisted in the care of the flower gardens. Her husband of 38 years preceded her in death in August of 1985. Audrey moved from Amarillo in 2008 and lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico and more recently Keller, Texas, to enjoy being closer to family. Audrey was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, and collecting Precious Moments figurines. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by her son Larry Stoerner and wife Nancy of Santa Fe, NM, son Wayne Stoerner and wife Kathy of Trophy Club, TX, son Curtis Stoerner and wife Cherie of Mesa, AZ, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Audrey is survived by her sister Verdell Baer and husband Richard of Wichita Falls, TX.
