Barbara Canady

Barbara Canady, 84, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday June 20, 2024. Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday June 26, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. with Pastor Chris Condit officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Barbara was born on May 17, 1940 in Amarillo to John and Elizabeth Burke. She was a sweet and kind woman who loved her family and cared deeply for her children and her grandchildren. Barbara was an avid reader her whole life and would always relish in multiple books at one time. Barbara also enjoyed riding motorcycles near the Canadian river and around the Memphis area with her husband Bill and their children. Later on, they were drawn to a love of astronomy and were active, long time members of the Amarillo Astronomy Club. Barbara loved camping with her family in Palo Duro Canyon and was an adventurer at heart. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill Canady.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, John Canady of Amarillo; her four daughters, Leslie Collier and husband Clay of Amarillo, Kathy Kelley and husband Eddy of Lubbock, Kelly Thompson and husband Brandon of Amarillo and Sherry Van Fleet of Spring, Texas; her sister, Jane Birdwell and husband Barry of Adkins, Texas; her eight grandchildren, Kirsten Fagan (Matthew), Brian Collier (Amanda), Kyla Collier (Star), Erin Kelley, Stephanie Thompson, Christopher Thompson (Sasha), Claire Van Fleet and Owen Van Fleet; her two great grandchildren, Maddux Fagan and Mattilynn Fagan. Survivors also include a host of extended family and close friends.
