Barbara Ann Miller, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026. No services are scheduled at this time.
Barbara was born November 22, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio to Leonard and Betty Wiemers. She moved with her family, landing in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she met the love of her life, Howard Miller. He proposed six weeks after they met. The couple married on September 16, 1972 and celebrated 53 years of marriage last year. Together, they raised two sons, Matthew and Chris. Barbara dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Howard’s work led them to several cities, including Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Albuquerque and Amarillo. They owned and operated their own bookstore, Rerunz, in Chico, California.
Barbara worked as a secretary for Texas Commerce Bank, later Herring Bank and Coldwell Bank in Amarillo. In her spare time, she was a voracious reader, sometimes reading an entire book in one day; she especially loved reading mysteries. Barbara and Howard also enjoyed eating at different restaurants, where they loved to meet new people. Barbara will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings, Alan and Ginger.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Miller; two sons, Matthew Miller and wife Masy of Fremont, CA, and Chris Miller and wife Shelby of Amarillo; two brothers, David Wiemers and wife Debbie of Ohio, and Mark Wiemers and wife Ronna of Idaho; a sister, Lori Woodard and husband Jeff of North Carolina; two granddaughters, Jayna Miller and Adalie Miller; and a new grandson on the way, Calvin Miller.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
