Barbara Sue Satterfield

Barbara Sue Satterfield, 78, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Viewing will be 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Saturday and 12:00 -5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Barbara was born June 14, 1941 in Fairmont, West Virginia to Franklin and Sue Grise. She graduated from East Fairmont High School. She married the love of her life, Samuel Satterfield, Sr. on July 16, 1959 in Fairmont. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage before his death in 2013. Barbara worked as a dog groomer for many years, and then as a cashier at Walmart for ten years, retiring in 2005.  Barbara was known for her cooking and baking, especially her homemade bread. She was a talented crafter and enjoyed painting. Family was everything to Barbara. She loved cooking big meals for her entire family to enjoy together. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam Satterfield, Sr.; a son, Daniel Satterfield; and a sister, Priscilla Sims. Survivors include two sons, Samuel Satterfield, Jr. and wife Janit, and Thomas Satterfield and wife Mary all of Clarksburg, WV; two daughters, Kimberly Graham and husband Terry, and DeAnna Satterfield all of Amarillo; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
