Barcine N. Smith, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Barcine was born on August 24, 1942, in Pampa, Texas to Barcie and Juanita Lester. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1960. Barcine's grace, elegance, and tenacity earned her a place in the Miss Amarillo pageant in 1960. She continued her education at Amarillo College and then Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. She married Calvin Smith on August 3, 1963 in Amarillo. Her entrepreneurial journey began in 1974 when she and her husband founded Omega Electronics in Amarillo. Barcine dedicated herself to the company's growth, ultimately operating it for over 32 years. Her tireless efforts left an indelible mark on the industry they served. Her family extends a special thank you to Steve and Kelly Bernhardt for continuing the legacy of Omega Electronics.
Beyond her professional achievements, Barcine was a collector of classic cars, and a proud member of the High Plains Thunderbird Car Club. She was an active member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church for many years. Her faith guided her throughout her life, offering her strength and grace in times of need. Barcine was an avid reader and rock collector. She also enjoyed traveling and had been to Alaska, New Zealand, Australia, Scotland and her most favorite place was Ireland. She is predeceased by her precious dog Bridget and survived by her loving dogs Sassy and Dutchess.
Her family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the West Lake Hills Belmont Village Senior Living home and Magnolia Hospice Austin for their wonderful care and support of Barcine during this past year.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Calvin Cecil Smith.
Survivors include a daughter, Cherie Barnes and husband Terry of Austin, TX; a son, Eric Smith and wife Rita of Pueblo West, CO; two grandsons, Timothy Barnes and Matthew Barnes; and her dearest cousin Raylene Robinson of Amarillo, TX.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Calvin C. Smith Memorial Technical Scholarship at Amarillo College in lieu of flowers.
