Bedford Forrest, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Fellowship North Campus, 503 East Willow Creek Drive, with Bob Huddleston, Walt Howard, Bo Williams, pastor, and Charlie Cox officiating. Longtime television and radio personality and community leader, Bedford Forrest, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, after a battle with cancer. He was born April 10, 1932, in Clovis, N.M., to Leo and Elizabeth Forrest. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1951. He went on to get his degree from West Texas State University in speech and radio/television broadcasting. He was a resident of Amarillo for more than 50 years. He married Janice Craig on Aug. 23, 1954, in Hereford. They had almost 30 years of marriage when she preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1983. He married, Reva Odom, in Amarillo, on June 22, 1984. For many years, Bedford did the farm and agriculture report on radio and television. He worked for KFDA channel 10, KVII channel 7, KAMR channel 4, as well as, KGNC Radio. On two separate occasions, he received the Broadcaster of the Year and Man of the Year in the state of Texas. He was very active with the 4-H and FFA programs, and attended stock shows all over the state. He also was a rodeo announcer. He, along with Royce Bodiford, started the Multiple Sclerosis BEEF-A-THON. Bedford loved his Lord and his family with all of his heart and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Reva Forrest of Amarillo; six daughters, Pam Richardson and husband David of Lake Tanglewood, Cherry Forrest of Amarillo, Cathy Forrest of Olten, Misty Sain and husband John Woodard, Shelly Rossy and husband Jesus and Angela Tankersly and husband Scott, all of Amarillo; a sister, Cherry Ann Harrison of Hawaii; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren The family suggest memorials be to American Cancer Society.
