Belle Marguerite Taylor Gage, 86, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday August 13, 2024. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday August 16, 2024 at Llano Cemetery with Pastor Bob Miller, of Crossroads Country Church officiating. Belle will be available for viewing from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday August 15 at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Belle was born June 26, 1938 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Quint and Bernice Taylor. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1956, and went on to secretarial school at Amarillo College where she studied stenography. Belle worked for Golden West Development Co. and SPS for a time, before going to work for The Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. She did some incredible work while at the chamber, having helped start the Chamber BBQ in Amarillo, which has become a fan favorite over the years. She was awarded Business Woman of the Year in 1998, for her work at the chamber. She retired in 2010 as Membership Director. After retirement, Belle worked part-time for the Amarillo Senior Citizens.
In her spare time, Belle enjoyed traveling and camping out. She was very involved with the Girl Scouts for many years as leader, trainer, educator and coordinator. Belle earned the two highest honors given in Girl Scouts: the Thanks Badge and the Women of Distinction Award; She loved Jesus and made sure we had Sunday services (Scout’s Own) at every camp out. While attending Sunrise Baptist Church she was youth director for several years. Belle later attended South Georgia Baptist Church with her daughter, Cindy.
Belle was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Laverne Smith McCuller and Joyce Taylor Sykes; and her great-grandson, Christian Allen Clay.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Gamblin and husband Reggie of Amarillo; her son, Scott Stoner of Palisade, CO; four grandchildren, Christina Coghill, Clifford Coghill, Austin Stoner and wife Stephanie and Aaron Stoner; five great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Stoner, Daniel Stoner, Daxton Stoner, Adalyn Belle Stoner and Scarlett Coghill; and one great-great-grandson, Cole Alexander Clay.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the High Plains Diabetes Foundation.
