Benjamin George Steinman (92) of Canyon, TX passed away Monday, April 20, 2026. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, in Amarillo, with Rev. Dr. Mark Welshimer officiating. The family will receive friends between 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday, April 24, 2026 at Heartland Funeral Home, 303 Early Blvd. in Brownwood, Texas. Graveside services will follow at Priddy Cemetery in Priddy, Texas.

Known as Ben or Benji, he was born February 22, 1934 near Priddy in Mills County, Texas and attended the Priddy School. Ben was the 12th of 13 children born to Willie Louis and Minnie Wilhelmine Becker Steinman.

Ben married Joyce Evelyn Seilheimer on October 18, 1952 at Portales, NM. They settled in Portales where he became a mechanic for an automobile dealership. Shortly thereafter, he joined Hill Lines, an early trucking company in eastern New Mexico and west Texas. After Hill Lines became part of Illinois California Express (ICX), he stayed with ICX as a loading dock foreman in Clovis. He also worked part-time at Stewart Motors and Trailers then established and operated Ben’s Mobile Home Service. In 1974, he became an over-the-road driver for ICX.

In 1979, they were transferred to Albuquerque by ICX. After retiring in 1982, they returned to Clovis where he purchased and operated Discount Wrecking auto salvage yard and Discount Auto used car lot in Clovis. He retired again in 2002 but continued to frequent auto auctions and sell used cars occasionally.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Emil and Louis; eight sisters, Estella Schrank, Lorraine Cantrell, Opal Schwartz, Dora Lippe, Marie Gummelt, Willie Mae Duncan, Francis Wittie, and Dorothy Caudle; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Eppler Steinman; and a granddaughter, Michelle Nicole Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; three sons, Michael (Sendy) of Tuscola, TX, Steven (Jennifer) of Canyon, TX, and Gregory (Linda) of Rio Rancho, NM; two sisters, Rosa Lee Hull of Bedford, TX, and Mary (Otto) Seider of The Woodlands, TX; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Priddy Cemetery Association, at 10 Private Road 136, Mullin, TX 76864; or to the American Heart Association, at www.heart.org.
