Ben was born on June 1, 1937, in Borger to Allie and Cordie White. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1955. He attended Eastern New Mexico University. Ben married the love of his life, Joan Kay Dixon, on December 19, 1958; together he and Joan Kay celebrated over 66 years of marriage.

He was a long-time, faithful member of the 3rd & Dwight Church of Christ in Monahans, Texas. He was a teacher and coach for 37 years where he mentored and coached many young men and women. He received the Monahans Youth Leadership Award, Monahans Citizen of the Year Award, and the Lobo for Life Award. Ben served as Chairman of the Board for the Ward County Teachers Credit Union. He enjoyed his time as chairman of the Ward County Historical Commission and being on the board of the Monahans Main Street Organization. Although Ben would not speak publicly about his accomplishments, no one could doubt his love for the Monahans’ community and the dedication he had to the teaching profession.

Ben enjoyed several hobbies such as fishing, woodworking, and drawing. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, mentor, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love to those that crossed his path.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Kay White; two daughters, Karen Stone and husband Kenny of Amarillo and Karla White of Dumas; one son, David White and wife Betsy of Houston; four grandchildren, Erika Turner (Matt Hanks), Parker McKee, Kayla O’Dowd (Luke), and Benjamin White (Aren Sackett); and one great-grandchild, Walker Hanks.
