Benny Ray Darnell, Sr.

April 29, 1934 — September 6, 2015

Benny was born April 29, 1934 in Hedley to V.P. and Opal Darnell. Raised in Donley County, He graduated from Lelia Lake High School as well as Clarendon Junior College. On May 27, 1956, he married June Christian at Oklahoma Lane, outside of Farwell. Together celebrating 30 years of marriage, before she preceded him in death on March 18, 1986. In 1986, he retired from Santa Fe Railroad after 33 years of service. , He married JoVeta Woodson on December 18, 1993 in Amarillo. Benny was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was always involved with whatever his boys were involved with. He is survived by his wife, JoVeta of Amarillo; 3 sons, Benny Ray Darnell, Jr, Randy Darnell and wife Lisa all of Amarillo, and David Darnell and wife Cristie of Highland Village; sister, Barbara Orsak of Waxahatchie; 14 grandchildren, Allison, Lauren, Trey, Lindsay, Elizabeth, DeAnna, Baileigh, Ashton, Madelyn, Benny III, Evan, Wesley, Jessica, and Justin; as well as his great grandchildren who he loved very much. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews who loved their "Uncle Benny" very much.
