Bernie Belknap, 87, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Memorial services will be 10:00 am at Amarillo Fellowship Church, 8425 Bell St., with Pastor Richie Brown officiating. Bernie was born November 16, 1930 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Orville and Erma Belknap. He graduated from Northeast High School in Lincoln. He married Shirley Zimmerman in 1950 at in Aurora, Nebraska. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a golf course superintendent in in Nebraska and Kansas. He retired in 1994 and moved to Texas. After retirement, he and Shirley travelled around the country in their RV. Bernie was a strong Christian man, who dedicated himself to serving the Lord. He and Shirley were members of Amarillo Fellowship Church for many years, and served at the Faith City Mission for ten years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Belknap; two daughters, Laura Bray and husband Richard of Tucson, AZ, and Debra Hollifield and husband Larry of Andover, KS; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
