Bertha was born on April 26, 1922 in Comanche to Tom and Edna Stewart. She was raised in Hermaleigh with her 6 siblings, where she later graduated from high school. She married Ira William Selman, Jr. on November 21, 1942. The two of them shared a son and 22 years of marriage. Bertha worked as a seamstress and also as a dietician for High Plains Baptist Hospital, retiring in the 1980's. She was a devoted member of Bolton Street Baptist Church for many years. Most of all, Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother to her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her son, Ira Gaylon Selman and wife Lucille of Amarillo; 4 grandchildren, Lodena Moreau and husband Don of Midland, Pamela Lane and husband Jay of Denver, CO, Gaylon Selman and wife Jackie of Amarillo and Justin Selman and wife Tanya of Amarillo; 9 great grandchildren, Wesley, Ryan, Carrie, Lauren, Tracie, Skylar, Lacye, Leighson and Langstyn and 6 great-great grandchildren, Courtney, Crystal, Chance, Carly, Atticus and Stefan.
