Beth Thompson

Ethel Elizabeth “Beth” Wright Thompson, 66, of Amarillo, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. A private family burial will follow the services. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Beth was born April 23, 1954 in Shamrock, Texas to Robert Lee Wright and Myrtle Venice Sloss Wright.  She attended school in McLean, Texas graduating in 1972. On April 23, 1993, she married Glenn Earl Thompson. Children were the light of her life, especially her grandchildren. She cared for them until the youngest started to school and then she reentered the workforce. She went to work for Trinity Lutheran Childcare at the Woodlands in the Biti Baby room. In March 2019 she was named Director of the daycare. At the time of death, she was still the Director.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Doile Wayne Wright; and one sister Rovena Lynn Brewer.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn Thompson of the home; one sister, Marita Sue (Bob) Key; sons, Clifton Wayne (Tina) Wheeler of Spring Lake, North Carolina and Devin Lee (Angie) Wheeler of Gunnison, Colorado; daughters, Olivia Marie Thompson of Perryton and Celedonia Irene Thompson and Tabetha Ann Thompson of Amarillo. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; a great-grandson to be born later this year; numerous nieces and nephews and a large community of friends.
