Betty J Hill

Betty J. Hill, 89, of Amarillo passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019 in the arms of her son. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2019 in the chapel of First Baptist Church with Minister Corky Holland officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the funeral home. Betty was born August 30, 1930 in Vernon, Texas to R.L. and Ethel Alston. Betty grew up in Vernon and Lubbock before moving to Amarillo. She loved being a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo. Betty ran Suite 600 Executive Services in the Bank of the Southwest for 25 years. She raised four children on her own and passed down her antics and entertaining to them all. Betty met the love of her life, Bill Hill, after the children became adults. She was a strong, beautiful lady and a gifted artist, who loved her family and the Lord. Betty saw many of her grandchildren and great-grandchild born. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Betty will be remembered as a loving mom, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel “MoMo” and Hamp Benton; her husband, Bill Hill; a son, Charlie Cox; and a daughter, Cindy Walker. Betty is survived by two sons, Toby and Gary Cox; step-daughters, Sherrilyn Romero and Husband Mark, and Holly Gwynn; a sister, Sue Merriman; nephews, Michael Merriman and wife Terri, and Todd Merriman and wife Lori; niece, Kim Clark and husband Dave; grandchildren, Caytie Cox, Taylor Cox, Donovon Cox, Jordan Cox and wife Kaycee, Chris Gwynn, Jennifer Casey and husband Jason, Justin Fowler and wife Amber, Ryan Romero and wife Suzanne, and Nicole Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Emory Cox, Riley, and Matilee Casey, Braden and Baylee Fowler, and Milo Romero.
