Betty Jo "Granny" Wilson, 85, died Monday, March 10, 2014.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with Charlie Cox officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Betty "Granny" was born April 19, 1928, in Yukon, Okla., to Henry and Opal Taylor. She was raised in Yukon and Chickasha, Okla., where she belonged to the Church of Christ faith.
After marrying Jesse Wilson, she moved to Amarillo in 1944. Here, she devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her family. Betty worked as a seamstress out of her home for many years and also worked as a clerk at Skaggs.
Granny loved to garden, bowl, square dance, crochet, needlepoint and work jigsaw puzzles in her spare time. More than anything, she enjoyed her family and cherished the time she spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Taylor and Vernon Taylor; a sister, LaVerne Phipps; and a daughter-in-law, Arlene Wilson.
Survivors include a daughter, Kaye McColl and husband Donald of Amarillo; two sons, David Wilson and Gary Wilson, both of Amarillo; a brother, Bob Taylor and wife Camille of Jacksonville, Alaska; 11 grandchildren, Sandy Mitchell-Raver, Larry Mitchell, Jim Farris, Evalyn Mollet, Mistie Wilson, David Wilson Jr., Heather Reed, Kenneth McColl, Timothy McColl, Jason Wilson and Jessica Clark; 29 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
