Betty Lee Massie, 87, died Saturday, April 5, 2014. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Betty was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Lees Summit, Mo., to Earl and Maude Davis. As a child, she moved to Kansas City, where she was raised and later married Clinton L. Massie on Aug. 10, 1946. Together, they moved to Hereford before moving to Amarillo in 1969. Betty worked as a secretary for Amarillo High School for more than 13 years, retiring in June of 1983. She and Clinton are longtime members of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tommy Davis Survivors include her husband, Clinton Massie of Amarillo; two sons, James Massie of Amarillo and Danny Massie and wife Janna of Canyon; a sister, Ella Mae Harlin of California; six grandchildren, Jessica, Dustin and Joshua Massie, Carlee Howard and Bradlee and Kellee Massie and four great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Harlie, Colt and Gatlyn. The family suggests memorial be to Gideon's or to Jan Werner Adult Day Care. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
