Betty Mccarthy

Betty was born on November 14, 1925 in Plainview to Leo and Bessie Splawn. She was raised in Slaton before moving to Amarillo, where she graduated high school. Betty married Lee Patrick McCarthy on July 25, 1968 in Hale, TX. He preceded her in death in August on 2008. Betty devoted her life to taking care of her family. She was a talented seamstress as well as an active mother, eagerly participating in the school PTA. Betty was known as an avid collector of dolls of many kinds and had an extensive collection of Shirley Temple dolls. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Timothy McCarthy and wife Stephanie of Amarillo; grandchildren, Tiffany McCarthy of Amarillo and Quinn McCarthy of San Marcos; 2 great grandchildren, Mila and Noah Canedo of Amarillo and several nieces and nephew and aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lee Patrick McCarthy; 4 brothers and her 2 sisters.
