Bettye Mccurry

December 12, 1933 — May 4, 2024

Amarillo

Bettye McCurry, 90, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bettye was born December 12, 1933 in Hereford, Texas to Fred and Myrtle Henry. She graduated from Hereford High School. While raising her three children, Steve, Mark and Terrye, Bettye met and married Bayne McCurry. She became a farmer’s wife, which was a dream life for her. She worked hard alongside her husband and dedicated her life to caring for her family. The couple enjoyed over 32 years of marriage together.

Bettye loved being on the farm, gardening and being outdoors. She enjoyed doing crafts and feeding the farm hands at harvest time. She loved all animals, and it seemed that she always had puppies and kittens around. Bettye had a fun personality and a lot of grit, having been a two-time cancer survivor.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bayne McCurry; and her daughter-in-law, Tamra Stevens.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Stevens and wife Rita Kay of Amarillo, and Mark Stevens of Kingsland, TX; a daughter, Terrye Stevens of Baird, TX; three grandchildren, Shelsea Becker and husband James, Parker Stevens, and Courtney Stevens; and three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Bryce and Lucas.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Landmark, formerly Plum Creek, for the many years of loving care that they provided to Bettye.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, at www.alz.org.
