Beverly Gifford

July 12, 1941 — February 21, 2026

Amarillo

Beverly June Gifford, 84, was surrounded by her girls as she passed away in the early morning hours on Saturday, February 21, 2026 – on the birthday of her husband, Shelby. The family is arranging a private family memorial service.

Beverly was born July 12, 1941, in Vernon, to Luke and Christine Fennell. The oldest of three siblings, and the only girl, Beverly grew up with plenty of tenacity, some stubbornness, mighty in spirit, and very compassionate. She met and married the love of her life, Shelby Gifford, at 16 years old. They lived in different places as Shelby was in the Navy, raising a family of 4 daughters and a son, until they settled in Amarillo. They were married for 49 years until Shelby’s passing in 2007. Beverly led her family in unwavering faith, setting the example of a life of prayer and staying true through good times and bad. In an unselfish lifestyle, she cared for her disabled son Wesley every day, shared God Calling devotionals with countless of individuals, would stop and feed the homeless, and send cheer and uplifting words to anyone that crossed her mind. Up to the very end of her days, she would pray and worship, expressing gratitude for her life and her family. Beverly cherished her family and friends, loved a beautiful sunset, good strong coffee, Sunday fried chicken, music, nature, and gave many orphaned cats care at her country home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Shelby, son Wesley, and grandson Spencer Taylor. She is survived by her children: Diane (David) Sissom, Valerie (Ken) Bintliff, all of Amarillo; Rhonda (Gary) Taylor of McKinney; Veronica (Joel) Jacoby of Lamar, Colorado; her grandchildren and their families: Monica Mosier, J.J. Luke, Joshua Luke, Lyndsey Bryan, Zachary Taylor, Sarah Jean Nolder, and Katy Jacoby; as well as eight great-grandchildren. Beverly is also survived by her brother, Danny Fennell of Amarillo, as well as a big extended family of nephews, cousins, other family, and many friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of BSA Hospice of the Southwest.
