Beverly Henderson

Beverly Henderson, 89, of Amarillo passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Cox Funeral Home; 4180 Canyon Drive. Beverly was born October 25, 1929 in Ralls, Texas to Joe J. and Corrine Smith. She married E.J. “Bill” Henderson on May 10, 1947. Beverly attended Wayland Baptist University, where she played on the ladies basketball team. She went on to continue her education at West Texas State University and receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Beverly taught at Horace Mann Junior High School. She loved her church and was a member of Central Church of Christ. Beverly enjoyed doing needlepoint, tending to her rose bushes and feeding the birds. Her hobbies included playing Keno, Texas Hold Em and watching college basketball. Every Sunday you could find her feeding the homeless downtown. Beverly will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered as a loving mom, sister, aunt and MeMa. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, E.J. “Bill” Henderson and two brothers, Charles Smith and Bob Frank Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Pohlmeier and husband Frank; sons, Larry Henderson and wife Eydie, Garry Henderson and wife Amanda and Terry Henderson and wife Sandie; sister, Deanna Tidwell and husband Eldridge, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
