Bill Richardson, 69, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at the funeral home.
Bill was born October 21, 1956 in Amarillo, Texas to Jimmy and Patsy Richardson. He graduated from Palo Duro High School and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Bill was able to stay stateside as he went to the service at the tail end of the Vietnam War. Bill worked as a truck driver for Affiliated Foods and for Dee King Trucking, retiring in 2024. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed doing some fishing as well. He loved working in the yard and kept a very well-manicured lawn. A flirt and a tease at times, Bill never met a stranger. He absolutely adored babies and stopped to talk to every baby he ever saw. He especially loved spending time playing with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He went by “Big Daddy”, and the great-grands called him “Darlin’”. He would have tea parties and play dress up with the little ones, which they loved. He was also crazy about his dogs, Bentley and now Pumba.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Richardson; a daughter, Teresa Beckett (Johnathan) of Amarillo; a son, Christopher Taylor (Courtney) of Hobbs, NM; five grandchildren, Rien (David), Corbin, Bradley (Emily), Josie and Grace; and three great-grandchildren, Ela, Eli and Eden.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Arena of Life Church, 8827 S. Washington St., Amarillo, TX 79118.
