Billy Joe McClanahan, Jr., 74, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2025 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Billy was born July 27, 1950 in Amarillo, Texas to Evelyn and Billy McClanahan, Sr. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1969. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Smith on May 1, 1970, and together they went on to raise three children, Tiffani, Tisha and Billy.

Billy made his career in the trucking industry, having worked for Bruckner Trucking, Kelly Trucking, and Roberts Truck Center. He retired in 2015 as Corporate Parts Director from Roberts.

Billy played softball locally for several years, and enjoyed coaching all his kids’ sports teams. He also coached high school girl’s basketball summer league, which he enjoyed very much. He enjoyed fishing and golfing in his spare time and was a talented artist who did pencil drawing and painting. He was also a league bowler for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Tiffani Simpson and husband Roman of Amarillo, and Tisha Nowak and husband Ashton of College Station, TX; his son, Billy Joe McClanahan, III and wife Anne of Austin, TX; six grandchildren, Lexi Raffkind and fiancé Tate White, Sawyer Nowak, York Simpson, Keegan Simpson, Dallas Nowak, and Anabelle McClanahan; and three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Briar and Veda.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest.
