Billy Melton, 79, of Amarillo, passed away on August 13, 2021 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday August 17, 2021 at Vega Cemetery with Chaplain Jeff Pugh officiating. Billy will be available for viewing on Monday August 16, 2021 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Billy was born on April 21, 1942 in Littlefield, Texas to Oliver and Marjorie Melton. He served in the United States Army working as a Tanker and Sharp Shooter. Billy had a deep love for the country and for those he served. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver for most of his life and owned “Billie’s Automotive & Diesel Services” in Adrian, Texas, before he retired. He was a hard and dedicated father, always working hard to provide for his family. Billy loved to tell jokes and he never met a stranger. He was a friend to so many and will be greatly missed.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Barbara Gurski.
Survivors include his three daughters, Samantha Peinado of Amarillo, Katie Melton and Hazel Melton both of Adrian; mother of his children, Casey Todd and her husband Ted also of Adrian. Billy also leaves behind several close friends.
