Billy John Scroggins

Billy John Scroggins, 83, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday at Crossroads Country Church, 14425 FM 1541. Burial will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Channing Cemetery. Billy was born July 9, 1934 in Kiowa, Oklahoma to Oscar and Ellen Scroggins. He married Norma Edwards on August 21, 1953. She preceded him in death in 1986. He married Dolores Alsobrook on March 30, 1991. She preceded him in death in 2014. He was employed at Western Sand and Gravel for many years. He sat on the board of Channing ISD for several years. Many of those years, he served as president of the board. Billy was active in church all his adult life. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Channing for many years, and also at Church of Quail Creek after moving to Amarillo. He was most recently an active member at Crossroads Country Church. Billy was a great story teller. He loved spending time with his family, and he enjoyed gardening. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a very dedicated Christian man who was loved by all who knew him. In addition to his two wives, Billy was preceded in death by three sons, Billy Lee Scroggins and his wife Lavonne, Jeffrey Scroggins, and Darrell Scroggins; a sister, Louise Belcher; three brothers, Gene Scroggins, Ray Scroggins, and Ronnie Blakely; a step-son, David Alsobrook; and a granddaughter, Heather Scroggins. Survivors include a daughter, Jada Jackson and husband Michael; a sons, Erick Scroggins and wife Vikki; three step-daughters, Kathryn Alsobrook, Joy Maloniey and husband Jim, and Rebecca Glover and husband Craig; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
