Bob Posey

Bob Posey, 89, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, April 26, 2024 at First Baptist Church Sanctuary, 1208 S. Tyler St. with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Bob was born August 11, 1934 in Claude, Texas to Aubrey and Gladys Posey. He graduated from Claude High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves and later the U.S. Navy Reserves. Bob married the love of his life Norma Lucas on July 26, 1956 in Clovis, New Mexico. Together, they enjoyed 67 years of marriage and raised two children, Steve and Julie.

Bob went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad at the age of 16 and retired as building superintendent after more than 45 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, snow skiing, riding his motorcycle, and competing in shooting competitions. He and Norma loved spending time at their cabin in Eagle Nest, New Mexico, where Bob could be found relaxing in his hammock. The couple have been longtime active members of First Baptist Church since 1976.

Bob was a wonderful husband and father. He was very involved in all his kids’ activities while they were growing up, which carried over to his grandchildren as well. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Ronnie Posey and Carroll Posey.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Posey; a son, Steve Posey of Amarillo; a daughter, Julie Smith of Amarillo; a sister, Norma Brown and husband Lee of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Thomas Smith, Rachel Chandler and husband Chris, Christine Bailey and husband Bobby, and Lexi Posey; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Bailey.
