Bobby was born October 8, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas to Raymond and Ellen Cunningham. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1968. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1969-1973. During that time he was stationed in Vietnam and Puerto Rico. Following his service in the Navy, Bobby went on to join the Army National Guard Reserves and served for many years. He married the love of his life, Penny Merchant on July 24, 1970 in Amarillo. Together they raised two children, Sheri and Dwayne. Bobby worked for the Amarillo Police Department as a police officer for 18 years, many of which were with the motorcycle squad. He went on to work for Amarillo College Police, Pantex security and Northwest Texas Hospital security. Most recently, he spent several years working alongside his wife Penny who was a State Farm agent. Bobby was a very talented builder, creator, wood worker and enjoyed collecting trains. Bobby was a quiet man who always put Penny first. He was willing to do and try anything that she wanted to do. They enjoyed travelling together in their RV, and spent extended periods living in it and enjoying different parts of the country. Bobby was always so good to remember everyone’s birthdays and would call or text them without fail.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Roger Cunningham.

Survivors include his wife, Penny Cunningham; his daughter, Sheri Marshall and husband Fred of Amarillo; his son, Dwayne Cunningham and wife Trish of Amarillo; two sisters, Dianne Grant and Eileen Jones both of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Alyssa Wilson and husband London, Ashley Cunningham, Alea Cunningham, Devin Marshal Haley Marshall, Taylor McLaughlin and husband Swayze; and two great-grandsons, Archer Wilson and Orion McGoffin.
