Bonnie Jean (Hanks) Bailey, 80 our sweet Mom, Grandmother and GG passed away to her eternal home with our Heavenly Father on May 26, 2018.
Bonnie was born August 9, 1937 in Bennington, OK to Albert Hanks and Juanita Hilliard. She met Howard Bailey on a blind date in San Antonio and they married six weeks later in 1957. They were married for 56 years and she is now reunited with her honey and he with his sweetheart.
Bonnie was raised with her sister in Bennington, OK and Weslaco, TX by their widowed Daddy. She graduated from Weslaco High School and went on to nursing school at Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in San Antonio, TX. After nursing school, Bonnie and Howard lived in various cities prior to making Amarillo, TX their home. She was a registered nurse for 40 years. Bonnie served in various leadership roles with Bushland PTA from 1970 - 1979 and as a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she volunteered for numerous community fundraising events. She cherished her dear friends she met throughout her life.
She was always a gracious hostess with a beautiful smile and instilled her love of cooking, sewing, gardening, travelling and shopping to all she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard Bailey and recently her sister Alberta (Hanks) Reid. She is survived by her son Randy Bailey and his wife Lisa of Amarillo, TX; her daughter Lisa Reed and her husband Mike of Keller, TX; 3 grandchildren Jorden Reed, Landon Reed and Bailey Mennona and her husband Kevin; 2 great-granddaughters Kinley and Blair Mennona; 2 nieces and a nephew and many cousins.
The family suggests memorial donations to an Alzheimer's Dementia organization or to a charity of one's choice.
