Brenda Joyce Ray

Brenda Joyce Ray, 77, of Amarillo, passed away on August 20, 2026. She was born August 29, 1943, in Childress, Texas, to Lona and Woody Rodgers.

A Celebration of Brenda’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, Amarillo, Texas 79109, with Pastor Scott Davey officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery.

Brenda was a strong, dependable woman who cherished her family above all else. She devoted 30 years of her life to working as a barber. She enjoyed dancing and making memories with those she loved. Brenda’s strength, reliability, and love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Lona and Woody Rodgers; her brothers, Wesley Rodgers and Kenneth Rodgers; her first husband and the love of her life, Walter Ray; and her granddaughter, Dakota Hazen.

Those left to cherish Brenda’s memory include her daughter, Misty Ray, of Amarillo; her son, Walter Jason Ray, of Amarillo; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, and one great-great granddaughter on the way.
