Brian Joseph Smith, 55, of Amarillo, passed away December 1, 2025.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Brian, 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2025 at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church, 8201 Canyon Drive, Amarillo, Texas.
Brian was born on January 11, 1970, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His family later moved to Seattle, Washington, where he grew up and spent most of his life. He attended Everett High School. On December 14, 2009, Brian married the love of his life, Jessica Jo Groomer, and soon welcomed their son, Jonathan, on December 31, 2009.
Brian was talented in many ways. A pro-dart player with remarkable skill, he also had a deep love for music - especially Tom Petty. He had a great voice, was an exceptional artist, and enjoyed drawing illustrations and creating custom screen printing designs. His creativity spilled into every part of his life - he even designed his own tattoo.
Brian’s personality made him easy to be around: funny, sharp, and always ready to talk about politics or the latest happenings in the World. He was a proud Republican, confident in his views, and never afraid to speak his mind.
His family often described him as brave - especially for his decision to move from Seattle to Amarillo so Jonathan could grow up close to family. He spent over 25 years with Fred Meyer in Seattle, holding numerous positions throughout his long career there. After moving to Amarillo, he continued that same work ethic at Lowe’s and Affiliated Foods, where he took great pride in his work.
Brian is survived by his son, Jonathan, of the home; his parents-in-law, Jonne and Janet Groomer; and a host of extended family and friends who loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessica Jo Smith and his parents.
