Buddy Preston Brunton

February 13, 1920 — July 24, 2014

Buddy was born on February 13, 1920 in Texhoma, OK to Roy and Nola Brunton. He managed to survive the Dust Bowl alongside his siblings, where they were raised on a Dairy Farm. He was preceded in death by his father at the age of 10. Then his uncle, Ansil Preston then stepped into the role of father figure. In 1944, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served in WWII until his honorable discharge in 1946. He married Mary Margaret Davis in 1941. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2014. Buddy worked as a conductor for Santa Fe Railroad for over 43 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason for over 50 years as well as a charter member of Kingswood United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Jim Brunton and wife Kathy and Joey Brunton and wife Tonya of Amarillo; a daughter, Judy Brunton and life partner Sallye Sheppeard of Beaumont, grandchildren, Jennifer Brunton Cox and husband Kerry of Houston, Jill Brunton of Amarillo, Jace Brunton of Killeen and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, James and Don Brunton and 2 sisters, Doris Meyer and Louise Berggren.
