Calvin Melear, 70, of Amarillo passed away on March 18, 2022. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday March 26, 2022 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Malone officiating. Calvin will be available for viewing on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Calvin was born on August 10, 1951 in Amarillo to Charlie and Maggie Melear. He served in the United States Army and was always proud to represent his country and flag. Calvin was a combat wounded Purple Heart recipient. He was a patriot first and never let his fellow servicemen down. Calvin moved to Amarillo in 1975 from Fort Hood. He worked as a truck driver for many years before his retirement in 1999.
Calvin was preceded in death by his mother, and one brother, Charlie Melear.
Survivors include his wife, Bena Melear; his father, Charlie of Amarillo; three sons, Roland Kenyon of Amarillo, Sterling Ray Kenyon of Fort Worth and Charlie Melear of Amarillo; two daughters, Lisa Elaine Pullum of Dallas and Amanda Holland of Amarillo; one brother, Bill Melear of Amarillo. Survivors also include a host of grandchildren.
