Carl W. Stewart

Carl W. Stewart, 87, of Amarillo, died Saturday, November 18, 2017. Services will be held at a later date in Bowie, Texas. Carl was born February 3, 1930 in Hemphill, Texas to James and Janie Stewart. He married Evelyn Hardison on May 2, 1953 in Oklahoma. Carl proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1964. He served in Korea during the Korean War. He was also stationed in Japan, Libya, and Texas.Following his military service, he owned and operated Carl W. Stewart Co. and Commercial Services. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. Carl was very much a family man, having come from a large family himself. He was very generous and giving. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all things mechanical. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Taylor Jo Stewart. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Stewart; a son, Mark Stewart and wife Heather of Amarillo; a grandson, Ty Stewart of Amarillo; and life-long friends, James and Virginia Stiles of Chattanooga, Tenn. The family suggests memorials be made to Hope and Healing Place, Inc., in honor of Taylor Jo Stewart, 1721 S. Tyler St. Amarillo, TX 79102.
