Carolyn Sue Alley Buckles

Carolyn Sue Alley Buckles, 87, of Amarillo, died Thursday, November 30, 2017. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Cox Funeral Home - Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr. Carolyn was born October 20, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Okla. to Dwight and Luella Alley. She graduated from Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas in 1951 as a registered nurse. She married Merrill Buckles in 1951. They were married for over 25 years and raised their family in Amarillo. Carolyn worked as an RN for 32 years, retiring in 1992. Most of those years were spent at BSA Hospital. Carolyn was a talented artist. She enjoyed painting, drawing, writing, and making jewelry. She had traveled to Hawaii twice during her lifetime, and fell in love with Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Steve Buckles and Paul Buckles; and a great-grandson, Austin Creek. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Dunlap of Nolandville, and Cindy Fesler of Amarillo; one son, Daniel Buckles and wife Donna of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
