Carolyon O. Woodard

Carolyon O. Woodard, 88, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 1, 2024 at Saint Stephen Church of Amarillo, 4600 S. Western St. with Rev. Ken Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Carolyon was born July 27, 1935 in Vernon, Texas to Cletus and Evalou Mitchell. She married the love of her life, Robert Woodard on June 8, 1952 in Vernon. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage together, before his passing in 2006. Carolyon dedicated her life to caring for her family. She worked for Livingston Hearing Aid Center as a hearing aid specialist for over 20 years.

In her spare time, Carolyon was active at Saint Stephen Church, where she has been a member since 1967. She sang in the church choir and also taught preschool at the church. She was a member of the United Women’s Group and the Golden Spread Emmaus Community. Carolyon had a love for serving people. She was very active in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts when her children were growing up. She was a talented oil painter and seamstress. She adored her grandkids and loved spending time with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Woodard; her infant daughter, Cynthia Ann Woodard; a brother, Johnny Mitchell; and two sisters, Jone Mitchell Reid and Linda Russell.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Burgdorf of Amarillo; three sons, Jim Woodard and wife Sheryl, Mitch Woodard and wife Cheryl, and Ronny Woodard and wife Stephanie all of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Shawn Woodard and wife Chassidy, Shane Woodard and wife Olivia, Courtney Holden and husband Devin, Megan Woodard, Kortney Bowman and husband John, Kaylee Lodge, Nathan Woodard and wife Haley, and Jordan Woodard; and ten great-grandchildren, Brazlyn, Coy, Jayleigh, Grayson, Leighland, McKinley, Lennox, Matthew, Maddox, and Carson.
