Charles Floyd Allen

January 12, 1942 — November 14, 2017

Charles was born on January 12, 1942 in Dalhart to James and Ardenia Allen. He moved to Amarillo as a child, where he attended Palo Duro High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960, proudly serving in field artillery until his honorable discharge in 1962. Upon discharge, he settled in Amarillo, where he married Sharon Slagle in 1980. Charles worked building houses, at Bell Helicopter for over 4 years, as a siding applicator and was currently employed as a building engineer at Pantera Energy. He was known to be a workaholic, but when he was not working was an avid fisherman. Charles is survived by his wife, Sharon Allen of Amarillo; 6 children, Stephanie Thompson and husband Brian of Austin, Jeffrey Allen and wife Lauren of Kansas City, KS, Shelby Allen and wife Crista of Amarillo, Travis Allen and wife Tambria of Amarillo, Keith Allen of Amarillo and Cynthia Jackson of Waxahachie. 25 grandchildren: Bryland Garrard, Holley Thompson, Daniella Allen, Parker Allen, Abigail Allen, Christopher Allen, Elizabeth Allen, Abbie Lindsey, Haley Fortier, Berkley Fortier, Brylee Leard, Keely Gantz, Brooke Allen, Brentley Allen, Katy Allen, Carter Allen, Koen Allen, Keisha Allen, Christopher Bledsoe, Kenneth Bledsoe, Cynthia Floyd, Jeffrey Massengale, Amanda Vaughn, Shawn Vaughn and Tabitha Sims. 14 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, and 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Allen, his daughter, Sherry Bledsoe and his grandson Gary Bledsoe.
